How to fall in love with FITNESS
There are two types of people when it comes down to fitness.
Those who love it and get up at 5 am for a morning jog, and those who hate it would rather spend all day binge-watching Netflix.
So, if you find yourself having a broken relationship with fitness…
LISTEN UP!
The reason you hate working out so much and cringe at having to perform any physical activity may have nothing to do with the workout itself. The problem is more profound and is called “YOUR BODY IMAGE PERCEPTION”.
Psychology research suggests that the more you focus on your flaws & weight loss, the more you dread the workout. Appearance-based motivation is a form of self-sabotage that makes exercising less enjoyable and doesn’t work in the long run.
Love for fitness comes from within.
It’s an inner job!
No amount of comfy sports bras, cute leggings or fancy trainers will fix this relationship. Stalking all the fitfluencers on Insta for some motivation won’t cut it.
But here’s the good news!
Like falling in love with a hot Italian guy, falling in love with fitness is super easy and can bring you loads of pleasure…
So here are my top three key steps that will help you kick-start your fitness love affair.
Get clear on your why
Get clear on your why
If you’re hitting the gym to impress someone or shed a few pounds off to look hot in your bikini on a Mexican beach…you may want to reconsider your WHY! Doing anything in life for the wrong reasons isn’t the way to go and may make you more resentful towards it! So, you need to clearly understand your reasons for wanting to make a change. Think of it more like a lifestyle than a quick fix.
Shift your mindset
Shift your mindset
NO, working out isn’t a punishment for your past life’s sins or a chore you must do. It isn’t just for when you want to burn calories to make up for your shitty diet.
And here’s the best part! You can get fit your way!
Don’t like lifting heavy weights? Use light dumbbells or resistance bands instead.
Can’t stand HIIT workouts? Try Yoga or Pilates instead.
Hate running? YouTube Jane Fonda aerobics workout.
Confusing forehand with backhand? Hop into your swimsuit and turn into Ariel.
There is NO such thing as ‘I don’t like working out.’
The possibilities are endless, so drop the excuses and find your way.
Start today
Start today
Stop putting it off! Stop waiting for tomorrow, Monday, next week, the new year, etc. Be patient and gentle with yourself. Start small, one day at a time, one exercise at a time, until you build a new habit of regular training.
Once you are clear on why you want to get fit and stop demonising fitness in your head, it becomes a fun and exciting lifelong romance.
